Cannabidiol, widely known as CBD, is a chemical compound that is naturally found in marijuana (cannabis) and is also a type of cannabinoid. They are widely used in the medical industry – topical CBD products like CBD oil are used for managing the symptoms of chronic pain. CBD oil is widely used for reducing symptoms such as pain, inflammation, and the overall discomfort that are associated with several health conditions. Several types of research have been conducted keeping CBD products as the subject and the results were promising. 

CBD products are often chosen as an alternative for people who rely on medications like opioids which have several side effects. More research is undergoing to confirm the pain-relieving benefits of CBD products, mainly CBD oil. 

The only CBD product available in the market approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is Epidiolex which is a drug prescribed for treating epilepsy. Still, CBD has been widely used for pain management. 

CBD for Chronic Pain Relief

Researches’ have been pointing out that CBD products interact with the core components of the endocannabinoid system which is the receptors in your brain and the immune system of the body. The tiny proteins attached to the cells of your body are called receptors, which helps in receiving signals from various stimuli. 

These responses are what that creates pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects on the body which helps in managing chronic pain. 

CBD for Cancer Treatment 

Researches on mice have shown that the use of CBD products is helpful in the shrinking of cancerous tumors whereas several studies in humans have been constantly investigating the role of CBD products in managing the pain which is related to the treatment of cancer. 

The National Cancer Institute has been pointing CBD as a good option to reduce several side effects of chemotherapy such as lack of appetite, pain, vomiting, etc. 

CBD for the Relieving Pain due to Migraine 

A study relating to CBD which was carried out in 2017 indicated that THC and CBD often lead to lessening acute as well as intense pain for people who suffer from migraines. 

The study had two phases where participants took a combination of both the products of which one compound was having 9% CBD and no THC in it, and the other contained 19% THC. There was no effect on pain in phase one where the doses of the compound were under 100 mg. But the participants felt relief in pain when the dose of the compound was increased to 200 mg.
